Why Money Clarity exists

A goal price and a monthly saving amount can tell you how many contributions you need. They do not, on their own, show whether that amount fits this month, how a one-off expense changes your start, or what stays available after each contribution.

Money Clarity brings those questions together. You choose a comfortable amount, compare alternatives, and try your own amounts. The planner shows the arithmetic so you can make the decision.

What you receive

Money Clarity is a $29 USD one-time digital purchase, with applicable tax added at checkout. It includes access to the licensed web planner and a PDF quick-start guide. Payments and order delivery are handled through Lemon Squeezy.

The public homepage has a sample calculator, and our guides are free to read. The full planner requires a valid purchase license. Review the product page and sample and refund policy before purchasing.

Calculation methods

Start with the room in your monthly plan

Regular monthly room = income − fixed commitments − typical spending − debt payments − other savings.

This month's room also subtracts the one-off expense you enter. Later months assume that expense does not repeat. If the result is negative, the planner shows the shortfall; available room for a new contribution is treated as zero.

Use income available to spend and count each cost once. Other savings means money allocated separately from this new goal. A cost already covered by that allocation should not also be subtracted as a new one-off expense.

Calculate the remaining goal and contributions

Remaining goal = goal price − amount already saved, with a minimum of zero.
Contributions needed = remaining goal ÷ chosen contribution, rounded up.

If a $900 goal has nothing saved and your monthly contribution is $200, you need five contributions: four of $200 and a final $100. The planner calculates money left after the actual final payment, rather than subtracting another full $200.

If your savings already cover the goal, there is no remaining amount to fund. A zero contribution cannot produce a finite timeline for an unfinished goal.

Handle the starting month separately

A regular contribution can fit later months but exceed this month's room. In that case, an eligible comparison option starts next month. If the remaining goal is smaller than the chosen amount, the planner checks the amount actually needed to finish.

Contribution counts describe payments, not exact elapsed months. With one payment a month, the finish date depends on when the first payment happens. A delayed start shifts the calendar timeline.

Compare comfortable, faster, and custom options

The comfortable amount comes from you. Faster suggestions aim for fewer contributions and are shown only when they fit the planner's stated budget assumptions. This is a comparison, not a recommendation to use all available money.

The fastest summary can use a smaller first contribution based on this month's room and the regular room in later months. It may use all the calculated available room; it does not automatically reserve an extra cushion. The fastest theoretical plan is not necessarily the one you will find comfortable.

The full planner rounds entered amounts to cents and performs its money calculations in whole cents. The free timeline calculator is a simpler example: it does not assess a monthly budget or model the starting-month expense.

Know the assumptions

What the planner does not know

  • Income, ordinary expenses, and other savings are assumed to stay constant in later months.
  • The one-off expense applies to the current month only. Future recurring or annual events are not separately scheduled.
  • Calculations do not include interest, investment returns, inflation, changes in the goal price, or currency conversion.
  • The planner does not track daily cash flow, bank balances, pay dates, or bill due dates. A positive monthly total does not guarantee money is available on a particular day.
  • It does not automatically assess a suitable emergency reserve, debt strategy, tax position, or your complete financial circumstances.

Use one currency consistently for all amounts; dollar examples do not convert currencies. Review your figures when circumstances change, and keep any additional buffer you need in mind when choosing your contribution.

Money Clarity does not connect to your bank, transfer money, or make purchases for you. Results are planning estimates based on your inputs, not personalized financial advice.

How we explain the product

Money Clarity publishes the guides on this site and sells the planner they describe. Product examples are illustrative calculations, not customer outcomes. We explain assumptions and link to outside educational resources where they support a guide.

The guides and planner are not presented as professionally certified financial advice. If you spot a calculation or explanation that appears wrong, contact us with the example so it can be investigated.
